The Floriculture Experiment Center, which is part of the Taipei Parks and Street Lights Office, is located at the Shanzaihou area of Yangmingshan. The slightly acidic soil and misty climate create the perfect conditions for camellias, turning the center into a northern Taiwan paradise for camellia growth and preservation.
The floral scent is strongest between January and March when the camellias are in bloom. On January the center holds the Taipei Camellias Show, in which experts from across the island join in displaying their flowers. Beautiful floral-tree combinations create a visual feast for visitors who come to admire the flower wonderland.
