Sunday:07:00 - 19:00

Nanmen Market is the first choice for many locals in Taipei if they want to buy dry foods, ingredients, and goods for the Lunar New Year. The Market sells all sorts of Chinese dry foods, Cantonese foods, Sichuan foods, Zhejiang foods, noodles, and sausages, which are normally difficult to find in the market. During the lunar new year, people swarm into the market to shop for the new year.

However, due to the scheduled renovation of the old Nanmen market and construction of MRT Wanda Line, the whole market was temporarily moved to No. 55, Section 2, Hangzhou South Road. The renovation was completed on November 13, 2019, and the announcement of its official opening was made.

Though the makeshift market is a temporary building, it is still designed with the concept of green architecture, including the preservation of a great number of existing arbor trees on the site. Also, many plants were planted in the surroundings in order to continue the ecological protection.

    Lively Open Market!

We went here before the Lunar New Year for one hour. Very crowded with abundant food shops including ready- to-eat main dishes, side dishes, candies, dry foods, snacks, buns, savory meat ,fish snacks, hams, Taiwanese sausages, fresh produce and seafood... and more . It’s all cash transactions here and we bargained a little bit on what we bought. Come visit during holidays to experience the festival ambiance.

Great market for dry goods, snacks etc

This famous market has just relocated to Hangzhou Road. Clean and air conditioned, it still retains the great array of stalls selling dried goods, meats, along with fresh seafood, meats and vegetables There is a food court on level 2 with a famous beef noodle stall with queues that never end

    Worth a trip

Of the various markets we visited in Taipei, this was by far our favorite. The vendors on the lower level offered reasonably-priced, delicious dishes to take away and the food court on the upper level was welcoming and clean. The stall closest to the exterior steps with the "shaved noodles" is worth the trip!

    Fresh food

Interesting to walk through here and check out the different foods. Not far from Chiang Kai Shek Memorial so you are not going out of your way. Clean. Second floor has a great Restaurant with Asian food - no English menu in sight.
