Liaoning Street Night Market 遼寧街夜市

Anchor point
4 120 Reviews

Sunday:16:00 - 20:00

Liaoning Street Night Market gradually came into shape as Fuju Temple's religious fairs attracted crowds and stalls in early days.

Today, Liaoning Street Night Market has become a small night market that sells street food like boiled squid, stir-fried seafood, Danzai noodles, oyster omelet and red tapiocas, which are mostly offered by 30 to 40 year old local eateries. Liaoning Street Night Market is not only a popular dining place for office workers working nearby Fuxing North Road and Nanjing East Road, but also a good place for many gluttons and tourists to enjoy local delicacies!

    Food market, not for shopping

We walked 1 km because it’s the nearest “night market” in our radar. My mistake is not checking first in trip advisor. Had I checked, I would discover that this is only food stores, no goods at all for shopping.

Not worth going out of the way to this market

Unless you stay nearby and are craving for some seafood, this market is just a small street of seafood restaurants and nothing else. Need to know Chinese or the price of seafood items that are not on the neon-sign menu as those items look cheap but they're just for vegetables. I would not go out of my way to come here. We happened to stay within walking distance and checked it out, but was rather disappointed. Shilin is night and day from this market

    Underwhelming night market

This is not a great night market. It's only one longish street and almost all the merchants (except one, from what I saw) were store based, as opposed to cart based. Which means they are sit down and eat places, so you can't really sample lots of small foods as you walk around like in other night markets.

    Food and more food

Liaoning Night Market is one of smaller night markets in Taipei. But since it was near the hotel, it is the first i decided to try. Why not, there is a line of restaurants big and small which one may choose from. I ended up in Goose Meat Restaurant where the food and beer satisfied me. Great place to eat.

    Small but authentic

Yes this is a smaller night market (one large road of about 20 stalls and several restaurants) but it is more authentic than say Raohe night market and a lot more easier to get a seat and be served without queuing for a long time - there is also a rather nifty array of neon signs in this area too.
