Saturday:09:00 - 21:00

Located on the 3rd floor between Terminals 1 and 2, Taipei Airport Observation Deck was reopened in November 2010. It covers an area of approximately 545 pings.

At the observation deck, you can not only experience the take-off and landing of the aircrafts at close range, but also enjoy the stunning view of the Dazhi Bridge, the ferris wheel, Neihu Technology Park and Datun Mountain across the Keelung River. The unique scene of the Taipei City formed here is something that aircraft fans most see.

On the west side of the entrance square of the observation deck, there is also an outdoor snack area which provides food and beverages for you to enjoy. Furthermore, the observation deck is open to the public for free, making it a good place to relax.

Taipei Airport is great for plane-spotters

Many people have the mistaken belief that Sungshan Airport no longer hosts international flights. It is true that Taoyuan International Airport -- once called the Chiang Kai-shek International Airport -- is the main international gateway but many international and domestic airlines use Sungshan Airport, especially for short-haul flights. The Sungshan Airport Observation Deck is very popular with plane spotters, both local and international. There's often quite a crowd. The airport is served by the Taipei MRT Wenhu (Brown) Line. The airport serves civilian and military aitcraft.

    See aircraft coming and going

Songshan Airport is a medium sized international airport. It was the airport for Taipei before the Chiang Kai-shek (CKS) International Airport opened. CKS is now known as the Taoyuan International Airport. Some aircraft, mainly on short-haul flights, still use Songshan. The Observation Platform, at the western end of the airport, has become very popular as a place to see aircraft coming and going. Songshan is in down-town Taipei, it's easy to get to. You can take the the MRT Wenhu line (brown line) and get off at the Songshan Airport stop. By the way, Songshan is sometimes used by military aircraft.
