Compare to the "hotter" hot spring of the Datun Mountains, the hot spring here is colder, only about 40。C, so it is called Lengshuikeng (Cold Water Tunnel). The Lengshuikeng was a bowl shape of crater that unfailingly gushed hot spring out. In addition to the unique volcano scenery, there is the individual milk white color sulfur spring, so-called "the Milk Pool."

The Quality of Spring

At the definition of hot spring, it can be defined as hot spring if the temperature higher than body temperature or than local annual average temperature 6.5C, and its temperature is about 40C.

The Feature of Spring

The Lengshuikeng Hot Spring is divided into two parts. One is the hot spring cave that is fult of ivory white color powder crystal, only for visiting. The other side is hot spring pool that is turbid and milk white color, also names as "Milk Pool." 1911 AD, Yangmingshan National Park Office built two hot spring pools, separated by gender, for free service.

Take a hike through the National Park

Leng Shui Keng is part of the Yangming Shan National Park, near Beitou and Shihlin, and New Taipei between Wanli, Jinshan and Sazhi. There are lots of trails for cycling and hiking. There are hot springs, sulfur deposits and fumaroles. By the way, snakes are sometimes found in the park, it's best to leave them alone if you come across them. Taiwan's tallest dormant volcano, Qixing Mountain, can be found in the park. Yangming Shan Leng Shui Keng is a good day out, especially for nature-deprived city dwellers.

Free foot hot spring, Informative visitors' centre, Hike to Qingtiangang Grasslands, Pass by Jingshan suspension bridge

Free foot hot spring: At small pavilions situated about 5 minutes walk from Lengshuikeng visitors' centre. Pretty crowded since not many seats available. Informative visitors' centre: Find out the entire topography of the Yangmingshan Mountain National Park by viewing the scaled version at the visitors' centre here. Also, learn more about the rock formations, the past industrial uses of the fumaroles or hot springs, ecological info of the park. Interesting for nerdy us. Hike to Qingtiangang Grasslands: Clear information of the trail outside the centre. 1.6km but with many steep steps so it takes an average of one hour to complete. Easy-to-follow trail with many clear distance-markers and arrows pointing to you which direction/path to take. Pass by Jingshan suspension bridge: On this trail, you'll pass by this suspension bridge and be able to take interesting shots from. Others: Apparently also walkable to the Juansi waterfalls towards the foot of the mountain but that's too far of a walk for us.

    A good walking parh

It’s a long way that you can walk or hike. But it’s not too special if you are coming for the sight. Leng Shui Keng is basically just a pond that is not too much special. There are a mile pond near by and a bridge that you can also have a look.

    A Hot Cycling Route

Leng Shui Keng (or simply Lengshuikeng) of Yangmingshan is not only a popular spot in a national park but the road to which is also a hot cycling route. Simply go up Zhishan Road all the way to Section 3 and turn left at Lane 71 (140 meters above sea level). Then follow the signs and keep riding to Leng Shui Keng (748 meters above sea level). The route is almost 13 kilometers. You actually climb up over 600 meters. If you ride at 10kph, it will take approximately 80 minutes to arrive. If you continue about 2 more kilometers, you will arrive at Qingtiangang, another popular spot in Yangmingshan. I suggest taking Yangde Boulevard on the way back. Then you can slide downhill and rest your knees. It gets cooler up in the mountains. Be sure to dress warmly.
