Taiwan, the Treasure Island, lies at a strategic point on the 'East Asian-Australasian Flyway' migration route, and its unique geographic location makes it a vital stopover for migratory birds.
When the autumn wind blows, many birds from the north fly to Taiwan to rest and spend the winter.
During the warmer months, some birds arrive in Taiwan to breed and raise their young, then go back to the southy.
Some are transient migrants, others are vagrants or pelagic seabirds—over 450 species of avian visitors have been recorded in Taiwan!
These passing travellers bear witness to the dynamic environment of our Earth.
We invite you to learn more about these brave and fearless migratory birds, to understand how we can coexist within the same ecosystem, and to help protect the shared home of both people and birds.
