Air Force club that migrated to Taipei

The Silver Wings began as an Air Force club in mainland China and migrated to Taiwan with Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek's retreating armed forces. Silver Wings has an exceptionally good variety of food, mainly of Jiangsu origin. The menu is quite easy to understand. Wednesday Nighters who have been in Taipei for many years rate Silver Wings as one of the best restaurants on the island. By the way, Silver Wings is vegetarian friendly.

no pretention but excellent food and atmosphere

during week end it is an early dinner (at 8pm almost empty already) with so many tables and food is brought without pretention at the table and is very good. from the small eels to the smoked duck and excellent sugared pork with bred. The soups are tasteful, and the atmosphere is probably like the restaurants at the middle of last century. I am not chinese but I feel chinese in this atmosphere and i enjoy it.

Silver Wings has stood the test of time

It's said that this restaurant originated in mainland China and migrated to Taiwan. The Silver Wings refer to its origins as an ROC Airforce club, so it's said. Silver Wings has been in business for a long time and is still around, which say something. The food is time-tested, it's said to be Jiangsu style. The portions are large, some of the old favourites like Lion's Head should not be missed. The menu is friendly to vegetarians, if you don't know what to order, be guided by the wait staff. It's wise to make a booking if you intend dining on a busy night. Some of our party have been Taipei for many years and they rate Silver Wings as one of the best restaurants in Taipei.

How have I missed this place for so many years?

One of the top 5 in Taiwan according the Miele Restaurant Guide, 60- years old. I have been to 3 of the 4 in Taipei, but not this one. Food is excellent. Will definitely come back.
