  • Da’an Forest Park

    Da’an Forest Park, the lungs of Taipei, is located at the center of Taipei. It is an urban jungle with lavish trees, spacious lawn and various facilities including pavilions, jogging path, a playground and an outdoor stage where cultural and art performances take place aperiodically. Many picnickers come for the refreshing air. The trees planted in early years have flourished into dense shades that allow you to enjoy the easy transition from the city into the forest in a second after admiring the beauty of the awarded architecture of MRT Da’an Forest Park Station.

    Reasons to visit : It is located in downtown Taipei which is easily accessible by MRT or bus, and it is also very convenient to shop nearby.

  • Huashan 1914 Creative Park Grassland

    Huashan 1914 Creative Park is a municipal ancient monument that has been reopened as an exhibition venue available to the arts and literature industry, non-profit organizations and individuals since 1999. In addition to frequent exhibitions and events, a number of restaurants, shops, art galleries and other business facilities can be found in the park.

    The massive grassland in Huashan 1914 Creative Park is the best picnic spot in Taipei. It is suitable for family or couples. If you are an artsy person, after picnicking, you can take some time to stroll around the park to check out the shops of distinctive features. Then, you can watch a movie at Spot Huashan Cinema, and that is a leisure day well spent!

    - Take MRT Bannan Line to “Shandao Temple” station. Take Exit 6 and walk for 5 to 10 minutes to arrive at Huashan 1914 Creative Park.

  • Flora Expo Park- Xinsheng Park

    Converted from the venue of 2010 Taipei International Flora Expo, the Taipei Flora Expo Park is an urban recreational facility that comprises three park areas, Yuanshan, Taipei Fine Arts Museum and Xinsheng. The display areas including 3D vertical gardens, flower landscape, fine flowers and fruit tree garden were kept after the expo. Its convenient location nearby MRT Yuanshan Station makes it a perfect venue for events and exhibitions.

    Xinsheng Park is the top holiday destination in many people’s minds for its massive grassland and facilities. It only takes a ten-minute walk to get to Xinsheng Park if you take MRT to Yuanshan Station. Put on your picnic mood and enjoy this romantic time at leisure!

  • Dahu Park

    Dahu Park situates in Dahu district, a location that is slightly distant from the city hustle and bustle. Its unique slow-living characteristic derives from that it is “away from the bustle but not away from the city”. The park is especially picturesque during summer and autumn when it gets slightly foggy after the rain. Le Monde reported about the stunningly scenic Dahu Park in May, 2012.

    Dahu Park not only boasts mesmerizing mountain views and scenic waterfront but also features Chinese-style bridges, pavilions and weeping willows. You can enjoy the scenery while strolling along the lake under the shades of weeping willows and bald cypresses amidst the refreshing natural aroma. You can also engage in several leisure activities in Dahu Park like fishing, picnicking, swimming and hiking in the neighboring mountains. In short, Dahu Park is definitely a lovely scenic spot perfect for a half-day or one-day getaway.

  • Meiti Riverside Park
    Meiti Riverside Park

    Speaking of best picnic spots in Taipei, Meiti Riverside Park is the top picnic destination by Keelung River. In fact, it has been the designated event location of “TLC Taipei Picnic Day” for three consecutive years. Sitting at the riverbank of Keelung River, Meiti Riverside Park boasts large areas of grassland. The striking scene of the river course, greeneries and blue sky is simply beyond description. This is where you can fully immerse in the soothing ambience which is rarely found in the city.

    During the day, a clear view of Dazhi Bridge and the Grand Hotel in the backdrop is dotted with departing and arriving airplanes. At night, it is quite a delight to stroll around Dahu Park with the company of sparkling lights on Dazhi Bridge and along the riverbank. Dahu Park is the best night viewing spot in Dazhi where the gorgeous scene of Taipei City at night will be in full view.

    Transportation: Take MRT Wenhu Line to “Jiannan Rd.” station. Walk along Jingye 3rd Road towards the riverbank for about 10 minutes to arrive at the gate on Lequn 1st Road.

Before going on a picnic:

Spring and autumn are the best seasons for picnicking. Remember to check the weather forecast before heading out. The time from 2 to 5 pm everyday is usually more suitable for a picnic. To avoid heat stroke caused by the scorching sun, it is best to picnic after 3 pm in the summer. Rainy days are not suitable for picnics because the lawn would be soaked. In terms of picnic outfits, easy and convenient is the dress code.

Recommended food and drinks for a picnic:

Fresh fruit, dried fruit, salad, french fries, roasted chicken wings, sandwich, bread, cake, sushi, rice ball, pizza, cookie, tea, juice, etc.
