InnoVEX 2018 Starts on June 6, Reaching New Heights
[Taipei, May 30, 2018] InnoVEX, the special startup exhibition of COMPUTEX, will be held in TWTC Hall 3 from June 6 to June 8. One of the co-organizers, Taipei Computer Association (TCA) stated that entering the third year, InnoVEX has gained the attention of more local and international startups. The number of startups joining InnoVEX has increased by over 100; in total InnoVEX will host 388 startups from 21 countries. Nearly 40% of them are international startups, making InnoVEX the Innovation Hub of Asia. Visitors can meet with startups from not only Taiwan, but also Canada, Singapore, Philippines, Japan, United States, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Poland, Spain, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Mexico, Sweden, Austria, Germany, and Saudi Arabia. With such a large offering, InnoVEX 2018 is expected to attract more than 18,000 visitors.
 
InnoVEX Forum: 3 Days, 6 Main Topics, Over 60 Speakers 

TCA stated that the forums are an integral part of InnoVEX. The forums will be held in the InnoVEX Center Stage, covering the topics of: AI, Blockchain, Future Mobility, Gaming, Startup Ecosystem, and Women Entrepreneurship. The forums are expected to help startups find inspiration and helpful insights to growing their teams.

On first day and first forum of InnoVEX 2018 will be the Entrepreneurial Game Changer Forum, held by TCA and MOST Taiwan Tech Arena (TTA). We will have a fireside chat with experts from Taiwan Tech Arena, LUMO Labs (Netherlands), and Techstars (US); discussing the cross border tech startup opportunity, sharing the view and strategy to build a solid ecosystem together, and how to co-create with startups, corporate and investors together. In addition, to help startups establish relationships with the media, well-known global media such as e27, BBC, Bloomberg, and more will join a panel to share their insights on understanding new ideas and attracting media attention.

For the AI forum, TCA cooperated with MOST Global Research & Industry Alliance (GLORIA) to discuss AI applications in IoT, manufacturing, health/ medicare, and fintech. The speakers are the leaders of the AI sector in IBM, Intel, Microsoft, and NVIDIA; also featuring AI experts from Appier, CTCI, GLORIA NCKU, Graphen Inc, Hyperform Consulting, ImmerVersion, Insilico Taiwan, National Chengchi University, National Taiwan University, Quadrant.ai, and Taipei Medical University.

For the blockchain forum, the organizers will invite the Head of Engineering from IOTA foundation to deliver a keynote speech on blockchain, Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT); along with the practical applications of DLT in IoT, IoV, identity verification, smart city, and the practical use of M2M communications. Joining us in the panel are speakers from Bitmark, KKFARM, and Health2Sync who will share their insights on blockchain applications for music distribution, smart contract, medical data, health care, and more.
 
The Women Entrepreneurship forum will have Adriana Gascoigne, the CEO and Founder of Girls in Tech; Stephanie Tang, the Managing Director of Rookie Fund and 2018 Forbes 30 Under 30 Honoree; also speakers from KuoBrothers Corp, Shape Protype & Women in IoT, IoX Center of NTU, Noa’s Mark, and Auterion. They will share their experiences in the business world and their careers.

The speakers for the startup ecosystem topic will come from multiple backgrounds. From the VC side, we will have Anis Uzzaman, the CEO & General Partner of Fenox Venture Capital; Yuma Saito, the Founder & General Director of Deloitte Tohmatsu Venture Support; and Tom Vanhoutte, the Founder and Managing Partner of Imec.xpand; all three speakers will also be in the InnoVEX PITCH Contest judge panel. We will also invite speakers from more VC firms, the media, accelerator, and incubators from Asia .

As the only luxury car brand that participates in InnoVEX this year, BMW is going to unveil the mobility of tomorrow to the public in Taiwan through holding the “BMW Future Mobility Forum” during 13:00-14:30 on 6 Jun. 2018. Dr. Mario Urbina Cazenave, BMW Lead UI/UX (User Experience and Interaction) Designer, will come all the way from Munich to give a keynote speech on “BMW Future Vision: Autonomous, Connected, Electric, Shared”. The trends in technical development and user interface, for example, 5G and AI, will also be mentioned in the his speech. The new BMW i8 roadster will also be displayed at InnoVEX to demonstrate the pioneering and groundbreaking ambition of BMW Group.

Innovation Incubation and National Pavilion to Join InnoVEX 2018

According to TCA, the top 5 InnoVEX startup categories are: IoT, AI, Health & Biotech, AR/VR, and Big Data & Cloud. In addition to the individually exhibiting startups, this year’s pavilions also become one of the highlights. The key pavilion organizers are: Taiwan Startup Springboard, Alibaba Taiwan Entrepreneurs Fund, Taiwan Tech Arena, XR-EXPRESS TW, Startup Exposition @ Startup Terrace, TYC, Global Startup Talents @ Taipei, IDB IISC, and more. There will also be 13 national pavilions from The Netherlands, France, EU, and other innovative countries which are expected to help startups network globally.

InnoVEX Pitch Contest Prize Pool Reached a Record High of USD 350,000
 
The InnoVEX Pitch Contest was started to help startups with their commercialization process and increasing exposure. It also serves as a means for startups to network with investors, potential users, and future partners. In this year, the prize pool of the InnoVEX Pitch Contest has hit a record high of USD 350,000 with prizes from both organizers and sponsors: Nogle Limited & Maxceed Capital Group Special Award, Delta Electronics, Inc. Special Award, and Startup Terrace Award. The registration for the pitch contest has closed with over 40% overseas participants. The semifinalists were announced on May 30, while the semifinal round will be conducted on June 7 on the Pi Stage. The final round will be on June 8 on the Center Stage and livestreamed on twitch:

Collecting the Demands from VCs and Corporates to Build a B2B Matchmaking Platform
 
InnoVEX invites many domestic and overseas venture capitals, accelerators, incubation centers, and corporation capitals to network with startup teams through pitch and matchmaking activities; and to bring investment opportunities through one-on-one meetings.
 
Many smart business solutions (especially AI) from startups are used by corporates. In order to match the demands of the corporates with the startups’ offerings, the 2018 AI+ Solution will provide total prize money of NTD 28 million (USD 930,000) for startups who managed to solve the corporates’ AI demands. The companies who will join this event from the corporate side are: Askey, IONT/LILIN, LiteOn, eCloudvalley, 1111 Job Bank, GIGABYTE, Qisda, The SYSCOM Group, Taiwan Shin Kong Security, Shin Kong Fire & Marine Insurance, Far Eastern Electronic Toll Collection, SYSTEX, Intumit and more. SMEA 2019 InnoNEXT to Launch a Series of Cross-industry Startup Activities
 
Supporting Startups and driving industrial upgrading is one of the policy objectives for SMEA, MOEA, which then initiated the Asia International Startup Campus — Startup Terrace. To bring new blood to Taiwan startup ecosystem and bring out new cooperation among different industries, Startup Terrace Project Office announces InnoNEXT, spearheaded by “InnoNEXT Youth CEO Draft” and “InnoNEXT Night”. Since the beginning of 2018, 250 young adults have kicked off the “InnoNEXT Youth CEO Draft” competition, and 35 of them are selected, after the first round, to undergo training. InnoNEXT 2019’s organizers will be the Youth CEO Teams from this year. The “InnoNEXT Night” Indie Band Show is fulfilling the concept of “The City is the stage.” Startups in music industry —Taiwan Indie Bands are invited to perform on 6th of June 7:00pm at Taipei 101 Taipei Water Dance Plaza for all COMPUTEX and InnoVEX attendees. Startup Terrace Project Office will also organize a “Startup Terrace Visit” on 8th and 9th of June at 2:30 PM to let startup enterprise and corporation further realize Startup Terrace and its surrounding fields within a 2-km radius.

COMPUTEX, the iconic B2B technology exhibition in Asia is organized by Taipei Computer Association (TCA) and Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA). COMPUTEX was started and named by the Chairman of Taipei Computer Association, Stan Shih. In 1985, he invited TAITRA to co-host COMPUTEX.
 
This year’s COMPUTEX will be held from June 5 through 9. As the main event for the Global Technology Ecosystem, COMPUTEX will focus on five major themes: AI, 5G, IoT, Gaming & VR and Blockchain.
