The Shilin Residence Chrysanthemum Show kicked-off on November 30, with the opening ceremony taking place at 10:40 AM featuring Mayor Ko Wen-je and performing groups.
According to the Public Works Department (PWD), the flower show this year integrates chrysanthemum with important landmarks from around the world. Visitors will be able to immerse themselves in the diversity and convergence of horticulture, arts, and culture within the small world.
Another attraction of the event is the display of huge football mum and the showcase of chrysanthemum species and gardener works spanning cliff chrysanthemum, chrysanthemum sculptures, chrysanthemum floral arrangements, and other sunflower family variants. A total of 180,000 pots of chrysanthemum await visitors at the show!
The Parks and Street Lights Office (PSLO) remarked that there will be over 10 sessions of cultural performances based on the concepts of internationalization, localization, and commercialization. The “Beautiful Chrysanthemum Concert” will spotlight artists including vocalist Chien Wen-hsiu, singer Roger Wang, and South Duet. Furthermore, there will also be a stage event featuring Jin-Wu-Zhou Hand Puppet Troupe, as well as lessons on African drums and indigenous dance by New Century Culture Arts Group.
Aside from enjoying the beautiful flowers at the venue, those who “like” and share the Chinese fan page of Shilin Residence Travelers (士林官邸旅客) will have a chance to bring home reusable bags and chrysanthemum show inflatable phone stand, available in limited quality each day during the exhibition. The organizer is also working with businesses and shops in the neighborhood to introduce the “Show Coupon for Deals” e-coupon campaign.
PSLO reminds you that the Chrysanthemum Show will last from November 30 through December 16. The outdoor displays and areas will be open to the public from 8 AM through 7 PM, while the indoor exhibition zones closes earlier at 5 PM. There is also a temporary marketplace at the venue, offering a wide variety of goods and products ranging from gardening wares to biscuits to handicraft merchandise.
