2019 Eid al-Fitr in Taipei
A New Year-style Celebration in the Summer! Eid al-Fitr in Taipei Will Burst Onto the Stage on June 9!

Eid al-Fitr, celebrated by 1.8 billion Muslims around the world, marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. During Ramadan all food and drink is prohibited from dawn until sunset, as are all forms of entertainment. Muslims seek to start anew, pursuing inner peace. Eid al-Fitr symbolizes purification and rebirth, and to represent a new beginning, as with the Chinese New Year everyone gets together for reunions, extend best wishes to each other, and share good food.

Last year’s Eid al-Fitr in Taipei celebration attracted over 40,000 people to Daan Park, enjoying picnics on the grass, browsing the special market, enjoying the stage performances – and walking into each other’s lives, making “diversity and inclusivity” more than just a slogan. This year will feature the inaugural Muslim Outdoor Lectures, with different perspectives used to bring you more in-depth understanding of these friends from other parts of the world. In addition, a grand bazaar of over 40 booths will be set up, offering Islamic foods, Muslim daily essentials, cultural-experience activities, and a rare treat indeed, Middle Eastern drum performances. This summer, come out to explore one of the most unique experiences in Undiscovered Taipei!
