The East District is full of diverse appearances. Taipei City Office of Commerce (TCOOC) and Taipei City East District Development Association will be closing the streets along Section 1 of Daan Road during 14:00-21:00 on 2019/12/21 (Saturday) and 15:00-20:00 on 12/22 (Sunday) to organize the Children's East District Plus+ event. Inspired by the theme of nostalgic childhood memories, unique stores in the East District will be invited to unveil special offers to demonstrate the unparalleled charisma of the businesses there. People of all ages are welcome to hang out in the East District amid a playful and joyous ambiance!
The first-ever major closed street experiment activity in the East District Plus+ took place on 2019/07/27. With the core focuses of music, arts, culture, and cleanliness, the event strives to present the copious vivacity and endless possibilities of the East District. The city government will continue to organize the Zhongxiao East District Revitalization Project to facilitate development in the East District. A plethora of interesting children's activities have been created, including the Retro Children's Toy Area and Papercutting Paradise offering nostalgic childhood memories. Furthermore, the Taipei Symphony Orchestra will be performing cartoon songs in the form of a brass quintet, and the children's favorite singalong performance will also be staged along with a myriad of musical performances. In addition, Midori Art Market, the most beautiful arts market in Taiwan, will establish pop-up stalls featuring nearly 100 exceptional stalls selling cultural & creative crafts, exquisite delicacies, knitted items, fragrances, and cleaning products. If you are still looking for gift exchange ideas, this is definitely the place to be! So, come on down to Children’s East District Plus+, where adults can enjoy fantastic shopping experiences and children can have a great time!
On the afternoon of 12/21 (Saturday), the Pokémon fan meetup will be held at the stage area, where Pikachu and his 3 new pals Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble will interact with the all-ages audience on the main stage. Moreover, large comical inflatable figures will also be laying on Daan Road to take photos with the visitors, while The Powerpuff Girls will be interacting and playing with everyone at the Liugong Park. A wide range of experiential activities suitable for the entire family will also be created (spots are limited) including the Papercutting Paradise, where people can sign up for a papercutting DIY experience by downloading the iQIYI app at the event; at the Little Customer Service Experience stall, children put on uniforms to become SOGO store clerks in order to experience service etiquette and take photos. Plenty of nostalgic children's toys will also be available, so parents and their children are welcome to visit the streets and join the interesting children's experience!
In order to ensure the event proceeds smoothly, Section 1 of Daan Road (north of Section 4, Zhongxiao East Road and south of Section 4, Civic Boulevard) will be closed to traffic from 00:00 on 2019/12/21 until 14:00 on 12/23. In order to maintain the order and safety of roads near Section 1, Daan Road, traffic control will be implemented at major intersections, and drivers are reminded not to park their vehicles illegally at will and to comply with the instructions of the traffic police officers. They are urged to make use of public transport to reach the venue (citizens may take the MRT to Zhongxiao Fuxing Station and head to the destination on foot). Additionally, in an effort to protect the Earth's environment and show that you care, please bring your own reusable tableware.
