For those who missed the 2020 Shilin Residence Chrysanthemum Show in December, here’s your last chance to enjoy these amazing and beautiful flowers once again! The Parks and Street Lights Office (PSLO) have relocated some of these wonderful plants to Taipei Rose Garden inside the Xinsheng Park Area of Taipei Expo Park.

To decorate the garden to highlight the rare roses and the sea of flowers, art pieces such as Christmas trees, rabbits, and deer help contrast the landscape and the seasonal greens in the surrounding.

The football chrysanthemums have always been a spotlight during past chrysanthemum shows at the Shilin Residence. It typically takes anywhere between 16 months to 2 years to raise these flowers, requiring at least 3 to 4 pot changes over the prolonged period. The staff members at PSLO have optimized a technique employing vacuum tubes placed on the edge of pots to renew and replace the medium and fertilizer to ensure the vitality of the plant’s roots.

Furthermore, the efforts that went into the minor adjustments of steel frames, the measured exposure to sunlight during cultivation, the lining up of the blossoms, and other details demonstrate the mastery of staff members in the knowhow of chrysanthemum cultivation.

According to PSLO, the different types of football chrysanthemum – “White Crane” and “Six Songs” – will be showcased at Xinsheng Park. Of course, visitors won’t want to miss out on the other flowers displayed at the facilities, including the vintage sepia rose, poppy anemone, and dahlia.
