Since the lowering of the nationwide COVID Alert to Level 2, the passenger volume of Taipei’s public bus system has seen a gradual rise. With the end of summer break for students on September 1, the city government announced that all public bus routes will return to standard service intervals starting September 1.

In an effort to boost ridership after a prolonged period of tight COVID restrictions, the Public Transportation Office (PTO) and local bus operators will jointly hold the “Weekly iPhone Raffle for Bus Riders” event starting August 24.

The campaign will select winners every week to receive a brand-new iPhone 12. Other prizes include limited edition EasyCard with NT$1,000 credits and ones with NT$500 credits!

The raffle event will be held between August 24 and October 18.

The rules for entering the contest are as follows: Visit the Chinese activity website (see below) and register your TaipeiPASS account. Simply link the EasyCard you will be using for your upcoming bus rides. After registration, every time you use your designated EasyCard to take a public bus in either Taipei City or New Taipei City, you will receive one raffle entry opportunity. The more times you ride the bus, the more chances you will receive.

For more details, please visit the official Chinese website of PTO or the official raffle website.

PTO stressed that disinfection and cleaning efforts have been strengthened as a part of pandemic prevention. Furthermore, each bus comes equipped with a bottle of hand sanitizer located right next to the rear entry door for passengers. The agency also reminds passengers to wear face mask and conduct contact-tracing registration when boarding public buses.
