DOH: Taipei City’s COVID Update for March 6

The Department of Health (DOH) reported a total of 4 new imported COVID-19 cases on March 6. The age of the patients ranges from 20’s to 30’s, including one man and three women. They arrived from countries including the US, Australia, the UK, and Guatemala. The patients were tested positive prior to the termination of quarantine period.

The central government also announced that Case 20913 of New Taipei City is among the contact list of confirmed cases 20861 and 20862 of Kaohsiung City, and all of them were members of a tour group which visited Yilan between February 20 and 22. The individual was placed under home isolation on March 4, with PCR test showing positive result with Ct value of 23.4.
 
DOH also published the contact-tracing records of the case in Taipei City, which included the following destinations: Shilin Residence (Feb. 20) and Kuokuang Bus from Keelung Train Station to MRT Zhongxiao Dunhua Station, followed by bus 688 to Lane 70 of Xiulang Road Section 3 (Feb. 22). Taipei City Government has extended testing to cover 21 individuals and awaiting test results. It also dispatched 582 SMS to people who showed overlapping trace records with the confirmed case.
 
With the continued threat from the COVID variant both abroad and in Taiwan, the city government is taking steps to strengthen immunity among its younger population. Between March 7 and 13, special clinics will be organized at 12 contracted hospitals across Taipei City offering first and second dose BNT vaccines to young men and women between 12 and 17 years old. In addition, special evening clinics will also be available at Wanfang Hospital and Tri-service General Hospital. There are also Saturday clinics at Taipei City Hospital Women and Children Campus and Cathay General Hospital during this period.
 
The agency reminds the public that first and second doses of AZ vaccines, Moderna vaccines, and Medigen vaccines can be booked at contracted COVID-19 vaccine hospitals in Taipei City. People who receive their first or second shots before March 31 will receive a NT$200 gift voucher.
 
As a general reminder, people entering and exiting public areas and restaurants should wear face mask, perform contact-tracing registration, undergo temperature checks, wash hands frequently, and observe cough etiquette to protect themselves and others, while helping to maintain the safety of our community. Those who exhibit symptoms such as cough, throat pain, fever, runny nose, headache, or muscle pain should acquire at-home test kits from pharmacies, convenience stores, or drug stores and use it first. Public-funded PCR tests are also available between 8:30 AM and 11:30 AM daily at any of the following local hospitals: Taipei City Hospital Heping, Zhongxing, Renai, Yangming, and Zhongxiao branches, as well as Wanfang hospital and Guandu hospital (Note: Monday through Friday for Guandu Hospital).
