The press conference for the 2022 Taipei Traditional Market Festival took place on the first-floor lobby of city hall on April 13. In addition to introducing spotlighted cuisines, the organizers also announced this year’s popular market stall winners and the “King of Braised Dishes” competition.

A total of 13 businesses – including the gold medal winner of the most popular market stall and merchants offering unique braised dishes – touted their products at the press conference.
 
The opening ceremony of this year’s Taipei Traditional Market Festival is slated for April 16 and 17 at the Yuanshan area of Taipei Expo Park. It will be held alongside activities such as raffles, creative parent-children kitchen, challenges, and more. Over 40 stores and businesses will set up stalls at the venue as well.

Braised food cuisine is highly popular among the public due to the diversity of ingredients, the complexity of the seasonings, the difference between low temperature and high temperature braising methods, and more. The fierce competition to determine the “King” of braised dishes this year is bound to attract much attention.
 
Some of the promising contenders include Zhenyu Braised Chicken of Songjiang Market; Yinggehao stall at Zhongshan Market; the vegetarian stall Yangsheng Shushi of Yongle Market, and Pan Delicacies Stall at Dalong Market. 
 
Visitors are reminded that due to pandemic prevention measures, those attending the opening event at Taipei Expo Park are required to wear face mask, have their temperature taken, disinfect their hands, and complete contact-tracing registration.
