Mayor Ko Wen-je and Mayoress Peggy Chen attended the opening press event of the 2022 Taipei Fashion Week in the evening of October 8.

The couple appeared at the red-carpet event dressed in attires designed by Taiwanese designers. During the interview with the emcee Huang Lu Tzu Yin, the mayor remarked that his suit is the product of Taiwanese brand WooLeeX, inspired by the landscape of Alishan while incorporating the concept of sustainability.
The mayor pointed out that the attire’s Chinese painting-like pattern is created by printing the entire scene onto the jacket made from eco-friendly yarn. By putting the hand-painted narrative onto a piece of clothing that merges Taiwan’s famous landscape with sustainable yarn developed by Taiwanese textile company, the suit made from PEP bottle recycled material is not only environmentally-friendly, but also touts a taste of aesthetics.
The dress donned by the mayoress is the work of local designer brand Claudia Wang. The hand-drawn pattern comprising forest trees and fantasy beasts is lively and colorful. The A-line jacket style is inspired by Japanese kimono.
Ko remarked that the creativity of Taiwanese clothing designers deserves the 100-point mark. Having participated in several editions of Taipei Fashion Week, the mayor believes that local designers have already acquired a degree of international fame with their works. He calls upon the public to continue to support the efforts of new Taiwanese design talents on the global stage.
