Are you tired of making your way through the large crowd just to catch a glimpse of the Taipei 101 fireworks on New Year’s Eve? For those of you who want a place with less people and stress, the Bishan Camping Ground might be the place you are looking for to salvor the countdown experience.

According to the Geotechnical Engineering Office (GEO), the elevation of the Bishan Camping Ground is 350 meters above sea level and located between Daluntou Mountain and Dalunwei Mountain. The camp site is designed to reflect the concept of “humans coexisting with nature” and comprises forest trails, camping zone, forest camp area, and an elevated walkway. It is also a hub with routes leading to destinations such as Bishanyan, Bashihu Suspension Bridge, and Daluntou Mountain.
Chief Pan of GEO’s Forest Recreation Section pointed out that the camping ground is located at the summit of Bishan in Neihu. The elevated walkway provides visitors with an excellent view of Baishihu Suspoension Bridge and airplanes as they approach Songshan Airport. The minimal light pollution in the vicinity makes it a great place to observe the fireworks at Taipei 101.
The Bishan Camping Grounds currently offers 52 camping spots for free. However, in anticipation of a huge demand on New Year’s Eve, the agency will make positions available through a lottery (52 positions + 15 waited-listed applicants). The deadline for applying for a spot on New Year’s Eve is noon on December 5.
Public Transportation Info:
From Exit 1 of MRT Neihu Station, take Bus S2 to Bishanyan stop.
Note: After disembarking at Bishanyan stop, walk along the road in the direction of Bishan Camping ground. The distance is roughly 1.8 kilometers.
