TCPD Announces Traffic Control Details for 2022 Taipei Marathon

The 2022 Taipei Marathon will take place between 5 AM and 1 PM on Sunday, December 18. Participants of the full marathon and half marathon will depart from Civic Plaza at 6:30 AM. The goal for this year’s event is Taipei Stadium.

After leaving city hall, the runners will take the following route: City Hall Road, Renai Road, Xinyi Road, Hangzhou South Road, Aiguo East/West Road, Zhonghua Road, Zhongxiao West Road, Chongqing South Road, Ketagalan Boulevard, Zhongshan South/North Road, Beian Road, Mingshui Road, Lequan 1st Road, Tiding Boulevard, Huandong Viaduct, MacArthur No. 2 Bridge, MacArthur No. 1 Bridge, Tayou Road, and Nanjing East Road Section 4/5, as well as various riverside parks and bicycle trails along the way. A total of 28,000 athletes will take part in the run.   

To ensure the safety of participants, Taipei City Police Department (TCPD) have announced a series of traffic control measures to be implemented for the marathon. Pedestrians and vehicles (including bicycles) will be prohibited from crossing the established route during the event.

For the duration of the run, all bus stops located on the marathon route will be temporarily suspended. For more information on the rerouting of public bus during the event, please visit the Chinese website of the Public Transportation Office ([Link]). 

TCPD recommends the following detours for vehicles during the marathon: 
 
  1. Renai Road (Northbound): Northbound drivers should take the Keelung Road Underpass or access the Jianguo Overpass from Xinyi Road ramp. Motorcyclists should take the Keelung Road Underpass.
  2. Renai Road (Southbound): Drivers should either take Changan East Road Ramp to the Jianguo Overpass or take a left turn to Zhonghua Road via the Zhongxiao East Road Underpass.
  3. Crossing Zhongshan North/South Road (Eastbound): Drivers can take Zhongxiao West Road Underpass, Civic Boulevard Overpass, or Xinsheng Overpass by entering in Shilin District to continue their trip south. Motorcyclists has the choice of either Zhongxiao West Road Underpass or left turn on Minzhu East Road and head eastward on the Zhongshan North Road Reversible Lane.
  4. Crossing Zhongshan North/South Road (Westbound): Drivers can take either Zhongxiao West Road Underpass, Civic Boulevard Overpass, or Xinsheng Overpass to Zhongshan North Road, connect to Jiantan Road and left turn on Chengde Road to continue westward. Motorcyclists can either take Zhongxiao West Road Underpass or travel from Minzhu East Road to Zhongshan North Road and continue westward by making a U-turn beneath Zhongshan Bridge. 
  5. Crossing Aiguo West Road (Northbound): Take Zhonghua Road and continue north.
  6. Crossing Zhongxiao West Road (Southbound): Take Zhonghua Road and continue south.
  7. Southbound Traffic on Tiding Boulevard: Take Jiuzong Road and continue south.
  8. Citybound Traffic on MacArthur No. 1 Bridge: Take Chenggong Bridge and Minquan Bridge to continue west. 
  9. Neihu-bound Traffic on MacArthur No. 1 Bridge: Take Bade Road Section 4 and Chenggong Bridge to continue east.
  10. Crossing Nanjing East Road (Northbound): Take either the fast lane on Dunhua North Road, Fuxing North Road, or Minquan Bridge from Neihu District.
  11. Crossing Nanjing East Road (Southbound): Take either Dunhua North Road or Fuxing North Road.
  12. Crossing Nanjing East Road (East/Westbound): Take either Bade Road, Civic Boulevard, Minsheng East Road, or Minquan East. Road.
  13. Westbound Traffic on Huandong Viaduct: Take either Zhongxiao East Road or Nangang Road.
  14. Route Adjustments in Zhongzheng District: Traffic control will be flexibly adjusted for the areas bordered by Chongqing/Hankou intersection to the east; Zhonghua/Kaifeng, Zhonghua/Wuchang, Zhonghua/Hengyang, and Zhonghua/Guiyang intersections to the west; Aiguo/Boai, Aiguo/Chongqing, and Aiguo/Yanping intersections to the south, and Zhongxiao/Boai intersection to the north. The respective intersections will reopen to the public after the last runners leave the vicinity.
