Furthermore, the city government and Taipei Eastern District Development Association invited over 300 businesses to participate in the 2023 Taiwan Lantern Festival Stamp Rally event on TaipeiPASS. Thanks to the generous sponsorship of partner stores, the raffle is able to offer prizes ranging from NT$6,000 cash to hotel vouchers to various electronic home appliances. With total prize value exceeding NT$3 million, the organizers hope that visitors can play a role in stimulating the local economy while they enjoy the beautiful sights of lantern as they shop.

The mayor first visited the Hi Hide – a gigantic, rabbit-shaped inflatable artwork incorporating the concepts of designer Wu Chi-tsung. The concept of the piece is exploring one’s inner world and interacting with it. There are eight different types of lights and shadows combination for visitors to interact with as they explore the hut structure.

He also stopped by an art piece at the Liugong Park created by Mexican designer Lua Rivera. Rong-rong represents the intertwining of the East District’s alley culture with city development, symbolizing the past history of the city and using different colors to represent Taipei’s prosperity and tolerance. Rivera invited the mayor to sit on top of the artwork to experience the stories and memories of the city.

After posing for photos in front of the mural artwork by designer Kao Den-hui at Luvyou Soymilk, the mayor remarked that he is very impressed by the enchanting lantern festival-related works by artists which are scattered across various stores in East District Commercial Area. He welcomes visitors to explore them and patronize local shops, enjoying the colorful lanterns over beverages and snacks.
