Mayor Chiang Wan-an attended the 2023 Eid al-Fitr in Taipei at Daan Forest Park in the afternoon of April 23. This year, he joined Muslim friends for an outdoor picnic at the park’s grass field area. He pledged to devote even more effort to strengthen Taipei’s inclusiveness and sustainability.
During his address, the mayor greeted the audience by saying “I love you” in Indonesian, winning thunderous applause from the participants. He remarked that he is honored to attend the important event with Muslim friends.
Recalling that the city government had to suspend the event for two years due to the pandemic, Chiang remarked that while the activity took place again last year, strict pandemic prevention measures and a ban on eating and drinking resulted in a low turnout. Fortunately, with the relaxing of related measures this year, the scale of the celebrations has been restored, with 30 booths offering visitors a taste of Islamic culture and cuisine.

In addition, there is a Muslim Tourism Exhibition providing information on Muslim-friendly hotels and restaurants for the public. He invites the audience to take advantage of the showcase to plan a short trip for themselves or family members to enjoy the charms of Taipei City.
Chiang also expressed his gratitude to Chairman Chiang of the Chinese Muslim Association and Chairman Wang of Taipei Grand Mosque, as they have worked closely with city hall to organize the Eid al-Fitr event. Other dignitaries attending the celebrations include representatives of Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Brunei, Malaysia, and Nigeria.
