The fair will feature both traditional dragon boat festival celebrations – egg-standing challenge, perfume pouch DIY, and zongzi (sticky rice dumpling) wrapping lesson – and booths promoting knowledge related to animal conservation, such as introducing eggs of different kinds of animals and making ice dumplings for animals.

There are also food stalls, small-scale farmers’ market, and cultural and education promotion booths. Zoo departments have also set up their respective stands: the staff from the Insectarium invites onlookers to find the stick bugs and identify their eggs, while Conservation and Research Center will display the eggs of different bird species and invite experts to share their experience on egg incubation process.

Zoo Director Chen Yi-tsung pointed out that the spotlight of the event will be to educate visitors on the different types of animal eggs. This year’s fair is co-organized by Taipei Zoo and Department of Cultural Affairs, hoping to merge the elements of animal conservation with those of traditional culture.

In addition to learn fun facts about animal eggs, visitors can also take part in the egg-standing challenge which will see 100 individuals trying to stand eggs at noon. As an incentive, those who succeeded in making the egg stand will receive a small souvenir! The eggs provided for the activity are produced by Taipei Zoo’s own Happy Hens Farm.
