Yonex Taipei Open 2023 Concludes at UoT Tianmu Campus Stadium

The final rounds of the Yonex Taipei Open 2023 wrapped up at the University of Taipei Tianmu Campus Stadium on June 25. The spectators were able to witness a series of exciting matches between top badminton players from around the world over the Dragon Boat Festival long weekend.

The winner of the men’s singles is Indonesian player Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo, who defeated Taiwanese player Su Li-yang in the finals. The top honor of the women’s singles went to Tai Tzu-ying, who successfully beat Chinese American athlete Beiwen Zhang in the championship match.

The gold medal for the men’s doubles went to Malaysian players Kai Wun Tee and Man Wei Chong, while Korean players Lee Yu Lim and Shin Seung Char claimed first place in women’s doubles. For mixed doubles, Malaysian pair Chen Tang jJie and Toh Ee Wei emerged as the victors. Taiwanese players Lin Xiao-min and Chiu Hsiang-chieh took second place, which is the best performance for Chinese Taipei in the mixed doubles category over the past five years.

A number of talented badminton players from Taipei City participated in this year’s competition. They include Wang Tzu-wei, Wang Chi-lin, Ye Hong-wei, Lee Chia-hao, Lee Kuan-ting, Lin Chia-yu, Chang Ko-chi, Po Li-wei, Wu Hsuan-yi, Chiang Chien-wei, Chiang Ying-li, Lin Hsiang-ti, Lee Chia-hsin, Teng Chun-hsun, Chang Ching-hui, Lin Xiao-min, and Sung Yu-hsuan. After the event, the athletes will be preparing for the upcoming Hangzhou Asian Games (September 23 – October 8) and the National Games in Tainan City (October 21 – October 26).

The organizers announced that next year’s Taipei Open will be held at Taipei Arena, which offers more seating for the audience. Residents are welcome to come and root for the local team at the tournament slated for September, 2024.
