The second fireworks show of the 2023 Dadaocheng Summer Festival, which lasted a total of 180 seconds, attracted a crowd of 58,000 spectators in the evening of July 12.
The Department of Information and Tourism (TPEDOIT) remarked that thanks to the support in manpower and management by multiple agencies, the large crowd thinned out within 15 to 20 minutes after the end of the show. The agency welcomes the public to visit Dadaocheng during the event period, patronize local businesses, and walk along the riverside to catch the mesmerizing view of sunset.
According to the agency, TPEDOIT conducts duties such as crowd and vehicle guidance, as well as maintenance and cleanup of the event venue. It works with the Police Department and Department of Transportation to implement traffic control in the vicinity. In response to ongoing road surface overhaul at nearby Nanjing West Road, over 500 police officers have been deployed to reinforce entry restriction via “Dan No. 4” Flood Gate and other support measures.
The Police Department pointed out that the four guidelines for traffic control includes: dispatch of over 100 officers; expanding the scope of traffic guidance and dispersion; promotion of detours, and assign “Traffic Rapid Response Force” to monitor and direct traffic as needed at various road sections.
TPEDOIT added that it has set up signs and positioned staff members at the various zones across the venue to guide revelers to exits such as Dan No. 5 and Dan No. 3 floodgates to lower the chances of congestions after the show.
The agency pointed out that to ensure an adequate number of restrooms, it has set up 40 single-occupancy mobile toilet, with further support from the Department of Environmental Protection in the form of 4 mobile toilet trailers. These are in addition to the 13 “landscape restrooms” and 2 mobile restrooms in the riverside park.
There will be five more 180-second-long fireworks show taking place on Wednesday nights at the venue, as well as the climactic, 480-second-long Chinese Valentine Day fireworks display on August 20.
