The Yanping Riverside Park is bursting with waves of vibrant flowers, creating a festive “English Garden” style floral landscape near the Dadaocheng Wharf. Designed by Taipei City’s Hydraulic Engineering Office (HEO) with seasonal blooms, this enchanting riverside display is set beneath winding trees, radiating a romantic ambiance. Complemented by unique lighting installations, the area captures the festive spirit of the holidays. The flower display runs from now through Christmas.
The HEO has planted nearly 10,000 spider flowers (cleome spinosa) as the centerpiece, continuing its wildflower garden aesthetic. These delicate blooms are paired with pink, white, and purple angelonia , layered with plants of varying heights to create a dynamic visual effect. Soft pink clusters are accented with violet blue salvias and Mexican bush sage, further highlighting the idyllic beauty of the riverside scenery.
According to HEO's River Administration Section, this year’s sea of flowers extends all the way to the riverbanks, where fields of colorful cosmos add a vibrant touch. Visitors strolling along the dazzling "firework pathway" are treated to a kaleidoscope of floral beauty on both sides, uplifting the mood of all who visit. At night, the area transforms with illuminated dandelion-inspired lights, which brighten the entire area. Reed-shaped lights along the flower trail mimic dandelion seeds floating in the wind, while the grassy fields are adorned with purple and blue net lights. Christmas gift box decorations beneath the dandelion lights add a cozy holiday vibe to the Tamsui River waterfront.
Visitors are encouraged to plan a half-day riverside outing, starting at the Dadaocheng Wharf. Option 1: Take routes 615, 622, or Blue 29 to “Taipei City Hospital Zhongxing Branch (Xining)” stop. Walk along Zhengzhou Road toward the levee (about 270 meters), enter via the Yanping Evacuation Gate (Tamsui River No.3 Water Gate), and find the sea of flowers directly ahead near the river.
Option 2: Take routes Red 33 or Green 17 to “Yanping Temple” stop. Walk toward the riverside to reach the sea of flowers area.
Option 3: Take routes 9, 206, 274, 641, 669, 704, 785, or Minsheng Main Line to “Minsheng West Road Intersection (Dadaocheng Wharf)” stop. Walk along Minsheng West Road toward the levee (about 370 meters), enter via Dadaocheng Wharf, and follow the riverside bike path southward (toward Zhongxiao Bridge) to reach the sea of flowers area.
2. By MRT
Option 1: Take the Songshan-Xindian Line to " MRT Beimen Station", Exit 3. Walk along Zhengzhou Road toward the levee (about 400 meters), enter via the Yanping Emergency Gate (Tamsui River No.3 Water Gate ), and find the sea of flowers directly ahead near the river.
Option 2: Take the Tamsui-Xinyi Line to “MRT Shuanglian Station”, Exit 1. Walk along Minsheng West Road toward the levee (about 1.2 kilometers), enter via Dadaocheng Wharf, and follow the riverside bike path southward (toward Zhongxiao Bridge) to reach the sea of flowers area.
