After the cherry blossoms bloom, April and May mark the local rice-transplanting season each year. Tucked away at 109 Pingjing Street, Eweishan Paddy Fields hold a vibrant agricultural treasure. Take the opportunity to venture into the paddies on a weekend near Taipei City and experience the simple, down-to-earth joy of farm work for yourself.

Although Taipei City is highly urbanized, several agricultural communities still remain on its suburban hillsides. Among them, the most distinctive is the Pingdeng Agricultural Community in Shilin District, where a large expanse of terraced paddies has been preserved in its entirety—something especially rare in land-scarce Taipei City. Stretching layer upon layer along the mountain slope and framed by the surrounding valley scenery, the terraces create a magnificent rural landscape rich in depth and character.

Beside the paddies stands the "Rice Wave Boardwalk" , an artistic landmark created as part of an agricultural environment improvement project by the Geotechnical Engineering Office, Public Works Department, Taipei City Government. Inspired by the rippling form of rice ears, the structure resembles rolling waves from afar and echoes the swaying paddies in the breeze. Whether you walk across the boardwalk to gaze at the distant mountain ranges or stand beneath it to admire the beauty of its structure, you can feel the striking harmony between design and nature.

Visitors can walk along Lane 106, Pingjing Street. After passing through a wooden stairway boardwalk, they will reach the opposite side of Eweishan Paddy Fields, where the sweeping panorama of the terraced paddies comes fully into view. Then, continue along the wooden boardwalk and the andesite trail to connect with Pingjing St. Lane 42 Sakura Alley. Although cherry blossom season is drawing to a close, the lush green shade and tranquil stone steps still make it a favorite hidden route among hiking enthusiasts.
