Taipei Lantern Festival Spokesperson, Chiang Hung-Chieh, Visits Universiade Interactive Area at the Opening Ceremony

Taipei Lantern Festival opens today (February 4 th ) as spokesperson Chiang Hung-Chieh, Universiade table tennis athlete, records promotional videos for the event. Shortly after the opening ceremony, Chiang joins his fiancé, Japanese table tennis player Ai Fukuhara, at their wedding banquet in Taipei before departing for his training in Europe. Chiang returns to Taiwan for the opening ceremony of Taipei Lantern Festival to encourage visitors to stop by the Universiade Interactive Area (Magic Animal Egg Area).

Ahead of August’s Summer Universiade, organizers of Taipei Lantern Festival built an interactive space (Magic Animal Egg Area) for sporting games, including that of spokesperson Chiang’s strong suit, table tennis. After a match of “PingPong 2 ” with groups of nearby children, Chiang praises the enjoyable experience and urges people to visit Taipei Lantern Festival in Ximending. He also reminds visitors to support Taiwanese athlete in August at Summer Universiade. Chiang hopes he can win a gold medals for Taiwan.

Chiang Hung-Chieh will be holding his second wedding banquet with Ai Fukuhara in Tokyo Disney tomorrow (February 5 th ). He expresses gratitude for his wife and thanks her for being patient with his one-day media tour for Taipei Lantern Festival’s opening ceremony amidst their busy schedule. As the festival’s spokesperson, Chiang arrives in Taipei early morning and departs for Japanese at night to prepare for their wedding the next day, a truly committed spokesperson.

As Summer Universiade’s ambassador “Bravo the Bear” ignites the torch at Universiade Lantern Area, visitors will notice the latner festival organizers have put much thought into making the area a place where visitors can experience the excitement for and participate in a variety of sporting games.

There are a total of 13 Universiade-related displays in the Universiade Lantern Area, including the flame tower, podiums and 9 athletic events depicted by lanterns. Visitors can also experience interactive games in baseball, table tennis, swimming, weight lifting, running, billibard…etc. Of which, “Play Ball!” an interactive game designed to simulate Taiwan’s national sport, baseball, will see visitors step up to the plate, face the pitcher, and either hit a home run, strike out, or get dismissed by a catch. Children may especially enjoy the interactive swimming game, “Swim-champ Universiade”, which allows for a virtual experience inside the pool. Finally, “Lucky Nine” is a ‘cross-discipline’ game that combines the joy of billiard and soccer into one smashing good time.

Taipei City Government’s Department of Information and Tourism invites Chiang Hung-Chieh, spokesperson of Taipei Lantern Festival, to experience some of the interactive games in the Universiade Interactive Area, and to share his passion for sports. We hope Chiang will perform exceptionally at 2017 Summer Universiade!
