A Shilin Cutter is a special type of foldable pocketknife with an eggplant-shaped handle and bamboo-leaf shaped blade. Invented during the Qing period, the knife was originally called a "Pachiran knife" after the Japanese period name for Shilin District, the place of its manufacture.
