Tainan good taste found in Taipei
This is originated from Tainan. It maintains the good taste and resonable price. I had fried clams, Dan zi noodle and a vegetables only at NT310. The clams are so tender and juicy, together with Basils, I almost called another plate. And their taste is so natural and I trust their claims of no MSG. The settings are also very Tainan rustic old shop style. A lovely local taste. Must try. -

Very Disappointed
Each time I visit Taipei, I will stop by at this eatery to enjoy the authentic local food in Taiwan, since 2007. Taste of food have not changed much over the the years, but I have witness the gradual deteriotion of services, esp after they have added more space the next door, the traditional Taiwanese friendliness and passion eroded markly. Last night, we were there, placed the order and get the table all seems ok. was puzzled after seated for 15 minutes, still no food served. the table next to us seated 10 minutes later than us, got many dishes served barely after 5-8 minuted after they got seated. Asking the staff to look into our our order and when it will be serve etc, came an irritated tone of --Just wait. Another 10 minutes passed, still no food serve, on checking, then staff went to checking with the kitchen. The answer from him was that there was an issue with with the ordering terminal and our order got mixed up, we have to wait as they try to sort things out....no sense or gesture of regret or an apology for the situation, just a hard answer--WAIT. I do understand there will be occasional operational issues, I will appreciate or ease off if they simply extend a few words of apology or try to make things up quickly, as I am the victim in the whole situation, yet paying for it at the end. Worst, when the food is finally served, we were told the Steam Fish we ordered is sold out, we have to opt for another fish which is 50% more costly....no concession nor any sense of regret. Understand they are having very robust business, I am just one of the million customer they have, but I will take my own action--not going there any more. Mike -

Great Local noodle-restaurant
You don't need to know Chinese to order. The actual dishes and sizes with prices are shown just outside the restaurant. You can order outside and then sit down and wait for your food. Each dish is about 4-5 US$. The noodle with soup is just US$1.20. You can have unlimited soup. The sugar cane smoke chicken is a must to try. It tastes better than any fresh organic chicken or free range chicken you taste here in the U.S. Tasty and tender, best chicken I ever tasted. This place is a historical place. All the decors are pre-WWll. You can have a feel of what Taiwan was like in that era. I like the small oyster hot pot too. the bamboo shoot was also great. Very affordable price. The next time I visit Taiwan, I will come to this local place to order the chicken again. In case you don't know the address, it is on Jilin Rd., intersecting Lane 160, Songjiang Rd., located on south-east side of the intersection, across Jilin Elementary School, about 7 minutes walk from Songjiang Nanjing Station
