Island of culture in Taipei's main street

SPOT Taipei is in Chungshan North Road, Taipei's main street. The cafe is very pleasant, it's a great place to hang out for a while. The Taipei Film House is an art-house cinema showing films that might not otherwise be seen in Taipei. By the way, SPOT Taipei was once the official residence of the United States Ambassador, right up until the US and the ROC broke ties in 1979. -

SPOT is devoted to films, mainly classics. It was once the Residence of the US Ambassador to the Republic of China, several times. It was almost demolished, but it was saved by a group of public spirited community activists. Now it is fitted out again, and includes a cafe. Have a look if you are in the area, entrance is gratis. -

SPOT Taipei is a very popuar place to hang out for TaIpei's intelligencia. It has great cafes and films to watch. It was constructed in the Japanese colonial period (1895-1945) in the style of a southern US antebellum mansion. It acted as both a US consulate and after as the US ambassador's residence. This role ceased when the US recognised Beijing in 1979. -

アメリカ大使館として使用されていた歴史的建造物にカフェと雑貨店が入っています。横は映画館で雑貨店にも映画関係の物も置いていました。カフェは10時開店でブランチをしました。ゆったり過ごすことが出来ました。
