To make Taipei City Muslim-friendly and to promote Muslim tourism, the Department of Information and Tourism, Taipei City Government has held the Muslim Eid al-Fitr in Taipei since 2016, inviting citizens and Muslims to participate and engage in cultural exchange activities. According to the original plan, the “2020 Eid al-Fitr in Taipei” had been organized since this January. Also, in response to the severe and infectious COVID-19 epidemic development, the department had made several event adjustments, including canceling group activities such as food markets and seminars as well as implemented epidemic prevention measures.
Yet, due to the increasing pandemic severity, the "2020 Eid al-Fitr in Taipei" scheduled for Sunday, May 24, 2020, will be canceled after thorough evaluation, which is to avoid possible cross-infection and to comply with the Central Epidemic Command Center's prevention measures. The cancelation is hereby announced with sincere apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.
