Chiang pointed out that he is honored to have this opportunity to stand next to his predecessors and enjoy the work. Taipei officially acquiring the status of city over a century ago, and he praised all the former mayors for their efforts to help the city grow. Former mayor Wu Po-hsiung played a key role in redistricting of the city despite pressures from the legislature; former mayor Huang Ta-cho began works on six future MRT lines and accomplished feats such as the construction of Daan Forest Park and dismantling of Zhonghua Market; former mayor Chen Shui-bian brought city services closer to the people by acts such as lowering the height of service counters at household registration offices.

Regarding former mayor Ma Ying-jeou, Chiang praised him as the pioneer in developing Taipei’ s tech clusters – especially Neihu Technology Park – and implementing healthy city and sports policies through the establishment of district sports centers. Former mayor Hau Lung-bin continue to implement tech and smart city policies, as well as inaugurating services such as the 1999 Citizens’ Hotline and YouBike rental bicycle program. The city also held the Deaflympics and Taipei International Flora Exposition during his term. Former Mayor Ko Wen-je worked on expanding the scope of public participation in policy-making and government transparency, as well as introducing the West District Gateway Project and redoubling efforts in promoting urban renewal programs.

According to Chiang, the 17-minute-long, digest version of the documentary shown at the press event focuses on the blueprints and vision planned under the respective mayors, which become closely linked to the everyday life of residents. Thanks to the support from the mass, city hall continues to work on making Taipei a better city hand-in-hand with the citizenry.

Sitting alongside the former mayors, Chiang joked that all those who have hold the position agree that the mayor’s job is no easy task. He himself found out the hard way, citing the recent Dragon Boat eye-dotting event. The mayor thought he was only expected to row for 500 meters, but found out that the entire trip on the dragon boat trip spans 5 miles. Even today, he is still suffering from the muscle pain.
